Isabel is a cancer nurse, clinical researcher and accredited psychosexual therapist.
In 2010 she established the first psychosexual therapy service within the Royal Marsden Hospital, London, dedicated to the support of people whose sexual lives and intimate relationships have been adversely affected by cancer and its treatment.
She offers integrated biomedical and psychosexual rehabilitation for treatment related sexual difficulties to individuals / couples aged >16 years. Women affected by breast cancer, receiving endocrine treatment, are the most commonly referred patient group to this service.
Isabel was a co-opted member of the NCRI Breast Cancer CSG Working Group for Symptom Management until Sept 2019 and continues to collaborate with group colleagues on a UK survey of women’s experiences of and the health professional response to sexual consequences of breast cancer and its treatment.
Her current research focuses on the implementation of a new PROM for clinical assessment of sexual difficulties after gynaecological cancer and the development and evaluation of training for breast CNSs in the use of psychoeducational strategies for sexual difficulties after breast cancer treatment.
