Dr Ali trained in medicine and began specialty training in histopathology in South Wales before joining the Caldas group in Cambridge to conduct research in the molecular stratification of breast cancer, and developed methods for quantitative computational analysis of the intratumoural immune response. In 2017 he moved to Zurich where he investigated the interface between the somatic cancer genome and multidimensional tissue phenotypes using imaging mass cytometry within the Bodenmiller group. Dr Ali won a CRUK Clinician Scientist Fellowship in 2018 and will be starting as an independent group leader at the CRUK Cambridge Institute in early 2020.
