Head of Research, University of Southern Denmark and Odense University Hospital
Henrik J. Ditzel is Professor of Precision Medicine, Senior Consultant and Head of Research at Department of Oncology, Odense University Hospital. He also heads a large translational research group at University of Southern Denmark focusing on individualized treatment of breast cancer, drug resistance and immunotherapy. Before becoming a full professor, he spent 10 years at the prestigious U.S. research institution, The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, California, where he held positions as Assistant and Associate Professor and headed several NIH grants.
Concurrently with his research effort, Dr. Ditzel completed his clinical training in Clinical Immunology at University of California, Diego (UCSD) Medical Center and served as Associate Clinical professor and Associate clinical Director at the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics laboratory at UCSD Medical Center. He has published more than 180 scientific articles, most regarding cancer and several in prestigious journals. He has received several awards and honors, including the Danish Society for Cancer Research Honorary prize in 2011, Research Result of the Year 2014, Knight of the Order of Dannebrog in 2015, and he was elected member of American Society of Clinical Investigation in 2003.
